The east coast is getting a ton of snow today - a little too much to dig out today - so we spent the day digging trenches for the pup so that he can get out and walk. He loves the snow and the camera. But it is really hard to get a shot of him because he always want to smell the lens. I had tons of fun doing laps in the trenches with Levi close behind.

Cheers

Well its snowing like crazy. 20+ inches of the white stuff is on the way and I am getting anxious to get back behind the lens. One more puppy walk and then I get to crash. Hope to wake up in time to get some nice light - but it will probably just still be snowing and overcast.

The first image was taken during Help Portrait last weekend of Dawn (behind the lens) and Jenny adjusting the exposure for their set. The second image was taken as we were adjusting the exposure for the group shot. I am really getting into trying some "creative" post processing and the Help Portrait behind the scenes shots are working great.

Cheers

I have attended many workshops and lectures with a person that I consider to be my mentor. He has always said that photography is not about ego or self promotion or awards or ribbons but rather a way to share peace, love and happiness through the medium of a photograph.

Today I was fortunate to be able to participate in an event that saw photographers around the world giving to the community in a way that only photographers can - through the gift of a photograph. Like the written word I believe a photograph has the ability to capture our imagination and allow us to tell the story of not only the subjects of the image but of the imagination of the person behind the camera.

The event that I participated in, had us capturing the love and happiness shared between loved ones and those that care about them the most. I saw the bond between mothers and their children, fathers and their prodigy, grand parents and the grand children that will carry their memories forever. All of these beautiful memories were captured today by a wonderful group of people who came together to share a gift that they were given and one which they gladly gave away in the hopes that it would bring happiness to others.

I know that taking someones photograph and giving it to them as a gift is a small gesture but it provides an enormous amount of happiness in the hearts of those that participated and in the hearts that received. Thank you Jeremy Cowart for coming up with the idea behind Help-Portrait and thank you to the wonderful people at the Sudley Manor House and the amazing photographers who made this day possible.

Love and Peace.

I have always wanted a dog and while I was a kid was around them all the time. My grandfather always had a dog and my family had a puppy for a short period when we were young, but seven kids were too much for him, so my folks found a nice couple that took him.

So as old as i am, it was really strange for me when I suddenly realized how much one of these amazing animals can mean to a person. I used to ponder when I would hear of people spending thousands of dollars on a vet bill to help keep a loved one alive. I just had never realized how much of a part of you a canine can become and I totally get it now.

So this is one of the most wonderful things that I could have had happen to me at this point in my life. I know that the puppy is really my daughters but that is okay - cause Levi has enough love for everybody - and their is plenty of LOVE to go around.

Cheers.
